Qualifications Requirement:
Obtain a Police Record check from the City or St. Louis County.
There will be a charge for the record check. Cash or money order only. The charge is $9.00 and there is a three day waiting period. You will need to provide a Valid Photo ID - Proof of birth date, Social Security Number, and type of business you need a record check for.

Visit the License Collector’s office in Room 104 of City Hall. For your convenience, you may fill out the Graduated Business License form in advance.

In addition to visiting the License Collector’s office, you will also need to obtain a clearance from the Collector of Revenue’s office.

If your business is located in the City of St. Louis, you must also obtain an Occupancy Permit from the Building Division.

You must provide the following information:

Experience Requirements, including Military Police, police experience or secret service

Five references For each Person -Board of Directors, Owner. The references must have known person applying for license at least five years.

This information will be forwarded to the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department and must be approved before a license can be issued.

Reciprocity: St. Louis does not have reciprocity agreements with any other cities or states.



Fees: If a New business starts between June 1 and December 1, the initial fee is $200.00. After December 1 up to May 31, the fee is $100.00

Renewal Information: The renewal fee is based on the amount of employees the company employs.
