As of January 30, 2010, Missouri requires private investigators to be licensed under the Missouri Board of Private Investigator Examiners. Previously, there was no state requirement, however certain cities, like Kansas City and St. Louis, had their own licensing. Now, the licensing encompasses the entire state and the city licenses are no longer necessary.
