A water related death is tragic under any circumstances, especially if there is reason to believe that it wasn’t an accident. If you know someone who was killed in a water related incident, and suspect there may have been foul play involved, contact ICS today to begin your free consultation with a private investigator. Whether or not the local police have performed an investigation into this matter, the ICS team is ready to assist you and bring you the piece of mind you need with a more in depth investigation. If you are uncertain about the circumstances and findings you have been presented with, there are a few things you should know about water related deaths and the type of investigation that ICS can perform on your behalf.

It is common to assume that all drowning incidents are accidents, but this is far from true. Unfortunately, police officers investigating water related deaths often make this assumption without first completing an onsite evaluation of the body to look for suspicious markings or signs of foul play. If you believe that the death of your loved one was not an accidental drowning, please call ICS right away to begin your free consultation. When investigating a water related death, it is important to begin the investigation as soon as possible because evidence may be lost or altered over time, especially if the body has been prepared for burial.

During your investigation, a private investigator from ICS will want to view as much of the initial scene of discovery as is possible. It is ideal if the investigator can view the body while it is still at the scene of discovery, however, there is considerable evidence that can still be found after the body has been moved. A private investigator from ICS may also wish to view the autopsy report, if the autopsy has already been completed. Ruling any death as a drowning is exceptionally difficult to do because it requires a full autopsy to first rule out any other possible cause of death.

The following procedures are just a sample of the investigative checks our private investigators will use in your investigation, to determine whether it was an accident or if foul play was involved:

  • Signs of postmortem movement/injury
  • Ocular changes that take place after death in drowning and non drowning circumstances
  • The physical state of the body, with respect to signs of injury not related to water
  • Animal or Bug activity in and around the body
  • Time of death checks

By performing these checks and other investigative techniques, our private investigators can determine if the death was an accident and/or whether the deceased even died in the water, as opposed to being killed elsewhere and then dumped in the water. If the police investigation into your matter has not satisfied your suspicions and did not answer these important questions, you should hire a private investigator at ICS to look deeper into your case.

Dealing with the loss of a loved one is never easy, and it may be difficult to come forward with your concerns about the investigation conducted and the cause of death listed by the coroner. When you call ICS for your free consultation, you will be treated with dignity and respect, and your case will only be handled by a fully licensed private investigator, where applicable licensing authorities exist. Our services are confidential, accountable and timely, so please feel comfortable contacting us today.
