New Hampshire

New Hampshire has two types of licenses:
An Agency License
A Private Investigator License
New Hampshire also requires that the applicant posses either an Associates degree of Science or a Bachelors degree of Science. New Hampshire also requires continuing education for licensed investigators.

Qualifications Requirement:
Must be a resident of the United States

Must be at least 18 years of age

No record of violent misdemeanors, or theft, fraud, or felony convictions

Either an Associate of Science or Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice and two years minimum employment as a licensed investigator; a minimum of four years as a full-time firefighter and certification by the International Association of Arson Investigators; a minimum of four years experience as a full-time law enforcement officer; or a minimum of four years employment as a full-time licensed private detective (applies to an individual or an agency but not to an employee of an agency)

File a surety bond for $50,000

Two sets of fingerprints required for armed private detective applicants

Firearms qualification required for armed private investigators

Provide documentation of qualifications

Submit application in person

Neither New Hampshire residency nor US citizenship is required

Reciprocity: New Hampshire does not have reciprocity agreements with any other states.

Renewal Information: Licenses must be renewed every two years.

Continuing Education: Armed private detectives are required to meet minimum requirements in the use of firearms at least once per year including four hours of instruction in firearm techniques and safety

Only licensed investigators can conduct investigations in New Hampshire. Licenses are only good in New Hampshire, there is no State Reciprocity.
